Our lovely homebred Aurelius (Maurice X La Sophie) was the lone representation for Braeburn at the Royal Winter Fair this year. He was competing in the Amateur Owner division with his new owner and was incredible for his first time showing indoors. He was 3rd in a very competitive under saddle class, and had some great trips over fences. His dam was our wonderful foundation mare La Sophie (Sophie) who sadly recently passed.
This fall our homebred Tenzin B out of Sophie by Westporte qualified for the prestigious Governor's General Cup and Liutenant General Cup for three year old Canadian bred horses at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.
The Royal environment is enough to faze an experienced horse, but Tenzin was as calm as a cucumber!
Here are some photos from the qualifiers at RCRA in September:
He was 7th on the line, and 8th under saddle in a super competitive group of three year olds!
Our beautiful homebred gelding Aurelius (La Sophie X Maurice) has been cleaning up this summer with his new owner Cailin Drexler! He has been campaigning in the 3'3" Junior Amateur Division (he is currently standing 2nd in Ontario!) as well as trying his hand at the odd hunter derby. He was 9th in the Hunter Derby at Cedar Run in July, and was Champion and Reserve Champion in the 3'3" Junior/ Amateur division the past two weeks at Palgrave!
We are very excited about this horses future with his fabulous new rider!
I just realized that this post is WAY overdue, but I am going to post any way!
In April La Sophie had a beautiful, tall and LEGGY colt by Couleur Rubin. This is a full sibling to last years filly India B. We have named him "Belmont" aka "Monty!"
We are loving this cross and will probably repeat it again in 2013 for a 2014 foal :)
Katavi, our 3 year old homebred mare by Cabardino out of Leda by Lacros, has qualified for the Lieutenant General Cup and the Governors General Cup at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, Ontario.
Check out some photos of Kat and her amazing handler/ rider Shawn Ferguson from the qualifiers:
Ava (by Voltaire) will also be joining Katavi at the Royal Winter Fair competing in the Adult Amateur 18-35 division with Raewyn.
At two years old our babies begin light work with tack, and are introduced to the jumping chute. Our 2009 gelding Tenzin B (Westporte X Lacros) came into his own this summer and really seemed to enjoy the break from the ordinary. Check out this video of Tenzin free jumping:
I really love the stallion Westporte from Country Lane Warmbloods as he stamps his young with incredible movement as well as expressive, wide faces with large, charismatic eyes. His foals have also been doing exceptionally well on the line this year, winning everywhere from IHF finals to the Devon Horse show. I am thinking about using him for our mare Vienna next year.
Our lovely boy Tenzin was sold the the Manning family this past summer. These are some photos that we took of him before he left:
Sophie gave us the best Easter present we could ask for in the form of a beautiful chestnut filly on Thursday, April 21. We could not be more thrilled with this lovely, tall girl by Couleur Rubin!
Check out this recent video of Katavi taken January, 2011. Katavi was born in 2008 so she is turning three this spring. She is out of Sophie and by Cabardino.
She is now w/t/c on the lunge and has started learning about side reins. She was backed lightly this past fall and will start real work with a rider this summer. Kat was recently measured and she has hit the 16.0 h. mark!
We are expecting two foals this year and are extremely excited about both of them!
Sophie is in foal to Couleur Rubin, a cross that we believe will produce an exceptional jumper foal. I love Couleur Rubin - he is extremely sporty and athletic, has tons of scope and big, beautiful movement. Sophie consistently produces beautiful, well moving and athletic babies. We have really high hopes for this cross which will most likely be repeated for 2012. Sophie is due at the end of April so stay tuned for our foal announcements!
Couleur Rubin:
Vienna is in foal to Redwine and is due in May. This is her first foal and we cannot wait to see what she produces. Redwine is a stallion based out of Gray Fox Farms in California that we just love. He only has a few foal crops in the ground in North America but he is consistently throwing beautiful hunter type foals with very correct conformation and beautiful heads.
Redwine:
Check back in the following months for updates on our babies!
